Our therapists are experts in the science of healing and the art of caring.

The Science of Healing.

Patients and physicians are demanding the talents of physical therapists and massage therapists for a wide variety of conditions. In many cases, patients are being sent to our therapists instead of surgery.

Our therapists help people with orthopedic conditions such as low back pain, joint and soft tissue injuries, neurologic conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or Parkinson's disease, connective tissue injuries, cardiopulmonary and circulatory conditions from diseases like diabetes, automobile accident injuries, workplace injuries including repetitive stress disorders - like carpal tunnel syndrome, and sports injuries.

The Art of Caring

The individualized, "hands on" approach that characterizes our therapists' care is highly valued by our patients. When a physical therapist sees a patient for the first time, he or she examines that individual and develops a plan of care that promotes the ability to move, reduces pain and restores function. The physical therapist, massage therapist and the patient then work side-by-side to make sure that the goals of the treatment plan are met.

Therapeutic exercise and functional training are the cornerstones of rehabilitation. Depending on the particular needs of a patient, our therapists may "manipulate" a joint (that is, perform certain types of passive movements at the end of the patient's range of motion) or massage muscles to promote proper movement and function. Therapists may use other techniques such as electrotherapy, ultrasound (high-frequency waves that produce heat), hot packs, and ice in addition to other treatments when appropriate.

Physical therapists will also work with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

It is important to know that physical and massage therapies can be provided only by qualified therapists working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

Understanding Insurance Reimbursement For Physical Therapy & Massage Therapy
Our physical therapists are professional health care providers who are licensed by the state in which they practice. You can check with your state agency overseeing physical therapy licensure to make sure that your physical therapist is licensed and in good standing.

Massage therapy is not licensed in many US States. However, our massage therapists are experts in the field and have obtained their National Provider Identification Numbers, which are necessary for insurance billing. Most of our therapists also have national certification in the field of massage therapy. And of course, those who practice in licensed states have their therapy licenses.

Specialization

Many therapists specialize in treating specific areas of the body, such as the back, neck, knee, hand, or shoulder, or they may concentrate their practice on pre- and postnatal care, sports injuries, stroke rehabilitation, or one of many other areas or physical rehabilitation. They may also be certified in specialty areas of therapy: orthopedics, sports, geriatrics, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary, neurology, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy.

Freedom of Choice

Most insurance companies require a referral from a physician before you can receive physical or massage therapy. Except in workers compensation cases, you always have the freedom to choose your own physical or massage therapist. Although a physician may refer you to a physical therapy facility in which the physician has a financial interest, you are entitled to seek treatment from the therapist of your choice.

Insurance

Most insurance policies cover physical therapy services when provided by a physical therapist and massage therapy services when performed by a professional massage therapist and directed by a licensed physical therapist. Ask the person providing your care if they are in fact a physical therapist, or a massage therapist being supervised by a physical therapist. Physical therapists who are members of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) pledge to comply with the Association's Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct.
